If Colette is Europe’s best concept store, 33 Rue Majorelle, owned by Monique Bresson and Yehia Abdelnour, is arguably the African equivalent. Located down the street from the Jardin Majorelle botanical park and museum in Guéliz, the two-story shop—part boutique, part art gallery, part café—takes Maghrebi style standards and makes them mightily mod. Hence the store’s motto: “Shop differently.” Among the covetable offerings made by inventive, mostly Moroccan talents are traditional woven-raffia slippers with a Coco Chanel vibe (thanks to a cap-toe design and a combination of black and cream fibers), luxurious scarves wrought in delectable sorbet shades, and glamorous hand-embroidered coats. 33 Rue Yves Saint Laurent; 011-212-524-31-41-95; 33ruemajorelle.com
